| The Clough of Trigrad |
This is a gorge on the Trigrad River in the West Rhodopes. It is a very deep (up to 350 m) carst clough with steep vertical slopes, situated 1,5 km west of the village of Trigrad, Plovdiv district. In the beginning the river hides noisily in the precipitous cave of Devil's Throat and runs 0,5 km under the ground. It comes to the surface again at the end of the clough and forms a narrow rocky bed. The Trigrad clough is one of the mostbeautiful cloughs in Bulgaria. It has been proclaimed for a rare natural sight. It is a place for tourism. There is a hut, called the Rocks of Tri- grad. |
