Etara

photos: M. Pencheva

An ethnographic museum park under the open skies near the town of Gabrovo. Set up during the 1960s when people became aware of the fact that many of the old National Revival arts and crafts traditions were about to disappear. From morning till night master leather workers, goldsmiths, cutlers and jewellers are busy in their tiny workshops, fashioning lovely gold, silver, copper, wood, ceramic, leather and wrought iron objects, all made by hand as in the old times. Pastry cooks take pride in their mouth-watering goodies and deliciously fragrant Turkish coffee. The pretty 18 and 19th ce. Gabrovo houses have been restored.
