| The Pyramids of Melnik |
These are rocky formations (earthly pyramids) on the south-west slopes of the Pirin Mountain. They are situated in the ouskirts of the town of Melnik on an area of 50 square kilometres. They are a unique natural phenomenon. These fantastic natural sculptures have various forms and deliniations, resembling rocky mushrooms,
haystacks, alpineridges and peaks, swords, obelisks, Egyptian pyramids, Gothic temples, etc. They arevisited by a lot of tourists. The starting point for this route is the town of Melnik. The Rozhen monastery is also in this region. |
