The Pyramids of Melnik


These are rocky formations (earthly pyramids)
on the south-west slopes of the Pirin Mountain.
They are situated in the ouskirts of the town
of Melnik on an area of 50 square kilometres. They are a unique
natural phenomenon. These fantastic natural sculptures have
various forms and deliniations, resembling rocky mushrooms,
The pyramids of Melnik haystacks, alpine
ridges and peaks,
swords, obelisks,
Egyptian pyramids,
Gothic temples, etc.
They arevisited by a
lot of tourists. The
starting point for this
route is the town of
Melnik. The Rozhen
monastery
is also in
this region.
