| The Set up Stones |
A miniature sand desert, studded with weird stonepillars. The Set up Stones are a unique natural phenomenon. They cover an area of 70 square kilometres. The best preserved, most often visited
![]() and easily accessible is the group of stones situated 18 km west of Varna. The Set up Stones look like a line of columns in ancient temples, or like vases, thrones or fossilized stems of trees. The lime and sand columns are 5-7 m high with a diametre of 0,3-1,5 or 2 m (rarely to 3 m). In most cases they are hollow (the diametre of the central cavity varies between 15 to 30 cm). |
